The power of youth basketball coaching a personal review

If you really want to make a difference in the lives of youngsters, one must try coaching youth basketball. Well I gave it a shot, and boy am I excited about the whole thing. There are several places that will teach you how to coach youth basketball, from charities to workshops to who knows what else. My experience with youth basketball coaching begins for over a year now, and there has never been a more fulfilling experience in my life thus far. However don’t take my word alone for it, cause you should give youth basketball coaching a try to believe it. The wonderful thing about youth basketball coaching is you can with minimal experience or background in sports, be the one to keep children away from harmful and dangerous influences in their lives. It is a creepy world out there with crime, drugs, and all manner of other temptations which plague our youth nowadays. Why, when I was a kid, we did not even know what drugs were. But nonetheless, using youth basketball coaching especially when working with a good, well organized community center, you can help out kids to say no to crime, drugs, and any other bad or destructive influences in their lives. You have to see it to believe it. The difference it makes is amazing. At times I do not understand why my work with youth basketball coaching has helped so much for kids, but they have recounted all about it themselves. It is a fact. I have a kid – Mikey who signed up about when I started youth basketball coaching. Prior to joining the team, Mikey was bad news. His mother had a drug problem and he was getting drugs himself. Besides his friends was a very bad influence on him. I first decided to sign up for youth basketball coaching especially because of kids like Mikey. I really didn’t understand much about youth basketball coaching when I first got into it. Neither did I have any training. I just watched a couple of youth basketball coaching videos, and hustle to prepare for my first day as a coach. But boy was it worth it. I packed in all of those coaching aids, and soon I was directing the team like a pro. Now that I am an expert at youth basketball coaching, I'll tell you a secret. With youth basketball coaching, it does not matter where you begin, as long as you persist.

Win roulette easy tips to maximize your profits

Roulette. Round and round and round she goes, and where she stops, nobody knows. Growing up, I always loved roulette. It was something that fascinated me -- watching the ball spin around and around and around, and knowing that if it landed in the right slot, there was a lot of money that could be made. Of course, when I got older and I went into a casino for the first time, I discovered that it was a whole lot harder to make money at it than I had thought, at first. Luckily, I'm a pretty fast learner and I quickly found a way that I could minimize my losses and maximize my profits. Well, times change and suddenly, I find myself spending time at online casinos, and playing online roulette. Guess what? You can use the same strategies that will help you minimize your losses and maximize your profits with online roulette. Now, before you get all excited, I've got to put in a disclaimer here. Some casinos are better than others and I'm only going to be discussing the good casinos, which you can find located at the end of this article. One of the benefits to playing at one of the good online casinos is that they want to get you to try their site and they'll give you some really nice incentives. What kind of nice incentives? FREE MONEY. That's right -- you log on, you sign up, and you get some really great offers. Some of them will match your initial deposit with double and sometimes triple what you're bringing to the table. Now, I don't know about you but I sure like the sound of that. Okay, so you find a good online casino and you want to play roulette. Do you have a strategy? If you don't, I can give you some pointers right now that will help you out. First of all, keep in mind that there are the odds are always the same -- no matter what. You might spin the wheel a thousand times and not have the number "15" come up but that doesn't mean that you're "due" for it to show up. (If you go into a real casino, you'll see some casinos actually give out little cards for you to keep track of the numbers -- because they want you to pick numbers that haven't come up in a while, even though those numbers are no more likely to show up than any other.) Now, here's a little trick that I've learned through the years, playing both online and real-world casinos. First, you want to figure out how much you're prepared to lose -- in my case, I'll start off with $100 as my loss figure. Then, you want to have a "win" number -- how much you want to win before you walk away from the table. I usually make it half how much I can afford to lose. So that means that I'll usually have $50 as my "walk-away" number. Next, you'll want to bet 10 percent of your money on either red or black. Now, keep in mind that casinos (online and real-world) always have a slight advantage. However, when you play what's known as "rock solid," you make the odds work in your favor. The way that this works is to basically make sure that you stay the course. Instead of jumping back and forth between red and black, there are many professional players who constantly play one color -- no matter what. What they're doing is playing the odds -- which are random. At times, they're down slightly and other times, they're up slightly. With a little bit of common sense and a "feel" for the various tables, there are players out there who are doing extremely well. Of course, I'm not an idiot and neither are you. So whenever I gamble, I make sure that I'm not gambling more than I can afford to lose -- and I make sure that I never get in over my head.

Relationships and golf

There is no other sport in the world that helps to build relationships like the game of golf. Whether you are trying to tie the knot to a business deal or looking to open a new course, you will need to form relationships. And with golf, this can be done in no time at all. A great example of this is when a new golf course opens up. Regardless of what area it is in, in order for it to thrive relationships are going to have to be built. If you are the one in charge of harnessing these relationships you will not only have to get in touch with investors, but you will also have to cater to the needs of prospective players as well. This is exactly what the Santa Ana Golf Club did when they opened their doors a few years back. At first, they were having a hard time getting any traffic on the course. After all, it was relatively new and the town was not exactly a hot bed of people moving through it on a daily basis. In order to up their traffic, the club simply offered a price that golfers from the area could not refuse. For a round of golf on weekdays they were charging $14, and on the weekends $18. This allowed anybody to play a top notch course without having to spend too much money. And as more and more players showed up because of the price, more and more relationships were formed. This went a long way in securing repeat customers. The first year that the club offered these prices, approximately 27,000 rounds of golf were played. From there, the club began to form relationships with sponsors and tour directors. In 1993, the Nike Tour decided to have a tournament at the course. This helped to put the course on the map, and since then things have taken off. This first event has led to an average of more than 150 events per year during its busy season. Even though this may all seem like a dream, it was accomplished by forging relationships on both personal and business levels. It is safe to say that the Santa Ana Golf Club knows how to deal with people, and can offer inspiration to golfers and businesses from all over.

Bass fishing in the florida everglades

Most anglers agree that bass fishing in the Everglades is a unique and captivating experience. Many people visit this unique environment expecting the stereotypical swamplands of old black and white movies; what they find is one of the country’s most extraordinary natural formations. Thousands of kinds of fish, dozens of endangered species and land forms unlike anywhere else in the United States can all be found in the Everglades. These surroundings also provide some of the best largemouth bass waters in the country; however, anyone who spends time bass fishing in the Everglades will discover more than just an angling adventure. In a park that boasts more than one million acres of natural terrain and two thousand miles of canals along with a whole lot of alligators, the visiting fisher might be wise to take along a professional guide. Enlisting an experienced local for bass fishing in the Everglades can make the trip more enjoyable and productive as well as less tiring. In addition, employing a guide means a visitor to Florida doesn’t have to personally purchase a state fishing license; he/she fishes under the auspices of the guide’s licenses. A licensed guide will soon have a bass fisher just where he/she wants to be: Navigating the channels in search of the lushly vegetated flats where literally hundreds of hungry bass are looking for dinner. Once on the water, even the novice fisher will find that casting a line generally results in hits not just from trophy size largemouth but from feisty peacock bass as well. Largemouth bass over fifteen inches long and weighing in at more than five pounds are not uncommon in Everglade waters. Anglers who like a good fight will get it from the largemouth’s smaller but hard scrabble peacock cousin. Although the park strongly encourages catch and release an enthusiastic angler won’t go home without a memento of the visit. Remember all a taxidermist needs to provide a conversation piece wall hanging are the dimensions of the fish and a good picture. Do the Everglades a favor, handle that bass with care and don’t take more than a fair share. Also beware of the extreme temperatures which can decrease the pleasure and lower the productivity of any bass fishing in the Everglades. Consider early morning and dusk fishing when the waters are cooler, more oxygenated and livelier. Be sure to dress for success: Light weight shorts, vented shirts, billed caps, polarized sunglasses and lots of sunscreen are de rigueur. All in all, for the fisher looking for a one of a kind trip, bass fishing in the Everglades may be just the ticket. So, get in touch with a guide, pack up the gear, don’t forget the sunglasses and head out today for one of the nation’s true natural wonderlands: The Florida Everglades.

How to prevent bodybuilding injuries

As a bodybuilder you are going to be training hard, so it is essential that you do your utmost to take care of your muscles and prevent injury. Before you do anything you should read up on safe bodybuilding practices such as proper lifting techniques, warming up and cooling down. Here we shall discuss some tips on how to stay safe down the gym. This Is Essential… The most important thing that you should do is a proper warm up followed by a warm down at the end of you session. Spend at least 15 minutes warming up; 5 minutes of light aerobic exercise such as jogging then 10 minutes of stretching to loosen off and prepare your body for activity. Lift some light weights before you get started on the serious stuff to prepare your muscles for the stress you're about to put them under. Know Your Limits The next important thing you should know is your limits for each exercise, everyone is different, so don't try to lift more than you feasibly can, as you could get injured. Make sure that your workout is intense, but never sacrifice good form to try and lift heavier weights, as this is a recipe for disaster. If you are lifting weights you should be able to do at least eight reps, if you can't, reduce the weight until you build up your strength. You'll get better results by pushing yourself close to your max than you will if you overexert yourself. You'll find you'll get better definition and muscle increase by being close to this threshold than trying in vain to train above it. Spot This… When you are lifting large amounts of weights you need to have a spotter, especially for when you are doing exercises such as the bench press. Ideally your spotter should be someone of a similar strength as you, as they will be able to help you out if you get in trouble. Make sure that you help them by returning the favour once you've finished on the machine. Ideally your spotter should be your training partner as if anything were to happen to you they would know you, and be able to help staff contact the necessary people. Plus your training partner will help you hit your goals and keep you motivated. Once you know your training program and have been shown the proper form, try working out in front of a mirror to keep your form in check, as it is easy to pick up injuries by not maintaining the correct form. If you have a training partner ask them to keep an eye on your form too, if not, ask a gym trainer to help you out. Follow the basic fundamentals and use your common sense and you shouldn't go to far wrong. Finally, make sure you have a solid and proven training program, don't just try and 'wing it' as you go or you'll come unstuck, get injured and won't get the results you want.

Chargers at broncos fight for division supremacy

It's week 11 in the NFL and the Chargers and Broncos are both 7-2 in the AFC West. This week the two titans go at it in Denver. At stake is first place in the AFC West and potentially the division title. These two teams will square off once more on December 10 in San Diego. The San Diego Chargers have won three games in a row, including an impressive win at Cincinnati last week. The Bengals were up 21-0 at one point, but the Chargers kept plugging away. The game quickly turned into an offensive shootout. I guess the defenses went on a tea break. The Chargers won the game 49-41. While the victory was a great one, I'm a little concerned about the Chargers defense. They gave up 41 points. They also gave up 24 and 25 points in previous weeks to the Rams and Browns—and 27 to the Chiefs. They are going to face a stingy defense in the Broncos and the Charges defense must step up. The Broncos have won two straight and six of their last seven. The lone loss was a heartbreaker at home to the Colts—34-31. While their defense has been stellar, their offense is leaving a bit to be desired. They escaped at Oakland last week with a 17-13 victory—come on. This could be a must-win for each team. Both teams have a couple of tough games ahead. They both play each other again and the Chiefs. Both have a couple of each games too. However, they each have one tough game without a common opponent. The Broncos play at home against the Bengals. Meanwhile, the Chargers travel to Seattle to face a tough Seahawks team at Qwest Field. Whoever wins this game will have a one game advantage—and that's going to be very significant. Both of these teams could finish with nearly identical results the rest of the way.

There s a song in the air at band camp

If your child is an aspiring musician, band camp may be the perfect choice for his next summer camp. These camps will encourage or spark interest in musical talent. In some cases, band camps are required for students to participate in school band programs. Whatever the case, your child will develop their musical and marching abilities. Band camps are generally available as both day camps and residential camps. Many schools that require their band students to attend band camp will offer a day camp in order to cut expenses. If your child wants to learn from teachers other than the ones he spends his school year with, however, he may want to go to a residential camp. In cases where your child decides to go away to a band camp, he is likely to learn from professional musicians. Often these camps will specialize in only one instrument, or only one group of instruments such as strings or woodwinds. These camps can include options such as private lessons, ensemble and group work. Most band camps also require students to learn the basics of marching and drill work. These fundamentals are necessary for those wishing to participate in a drum and bugle corps, or even a high school marching band. Many high schools that have a marching band program require students to attend a band camp in order to be allowed to play in the band. In some of these camps students will actually go to a college campus or other facility where they will stay in the college dorms as well as use the college’s music facilities to practice. Often music majors studying at the college will provide special instruction and also help teach the music and drill. Other high school band camps simply meet as a day camp at the student’s own high school. During these camps, professionals will often be hired and brought in to help teach students needed aspects of the music and drill. The basic goal of high school band camps is to teach students the music and footwork for their halftime field show which will be performed during school football games. During a one or two week course of camp, students will learn to play and commit their music to memory. In addition to playing music, students must learn to stay in step with each other and make the drill, which is actually broken down into numerous segments to make it easier to learn, seem seamless. In order to make a field show successful, students must learn to listen to and watch each other. Without these skills, a field show can look and sound sloppy and unprofessional. In addition to improving their musical ability, students also learn life lessons such as cooperation and discipline while in band camp. Whether your child is required to attend band camp or if he simply wants to improve his musical talent, these camps are an excellent way to spend the summer.

An introduction to mountain biking

Even if there are no mountains where you live, it can make sense to buy a mountain bike, just because of the security they provide, even in urban areas. And there's always the chance of a weekend ride in the country. If you're a bicycle enthusiast, but have only tried cycling on the road, it's time you gave mountain biking a try. By mountain biking, I mean more than heading down an actual mountain - although that what most people think about when they hear the phrase "Mountain biking." However, mountain bikes - light bikes with fat tires and front suspension - make it easy to go cross country riding as well. So even if you live in an area that has no mountains - get yourself a mountain bike anyway! Those fat tires make for a nice ride - and as long as they're properly inflated they can go almost as fast as the thinner tires of road bikes, but you don't need to worry about going up curbs or down curbs. There are three styles of mountain biking - the one everyone thinks of which is downhill riding, free riding, and cross country. If you're a professional cyclist or a dedicated amateur you'll want to buy a bike specifically designed for each style, but if you're a casual cyclist who'll want to try one style one weekend and a different style the next, any good mountain bike will do. Most people will buy a brand new tool whenever they take up a brand new hobby. This is a mistake. Examine yourself. Have you done this in the past - decided on a hobby, bought all the equipment, used it once - then stored it in your garage and never used it again? So, if possible, rent a bike first - indeed, in so doing you'll be able to try out quite a few bikes and decide on which one you'd like to buy. Make sure that the people renting you the bikes have taken proper care of them, of course, and that they're not just "beaters." Are you a beginner? If there's any mountain biking in your area, chances are there'll be a club or two, which will cater to beginners. The best thing to do is seek out your local bike shop. Anyone there can tell you what goes on in your area. In addition, most bike shops will have racks featuring the brochures of local clubs, and bike maps of the local trails, for free. Practice makes perfect If you're not in shape - you can get in shape with mountain biking... if you make a concentrated effort to do so. Set yourself goals of miles to ride each day. If you don't have the time to ride an hour or so everyday, but if you have a steep hill near your home, you can always spend ten minutes or so doing wind sprints up and down that hill. This will increase your stamina and strengthen your leg muscles no end. (Make sure you check with your doctor to make sure you have no health problems that would limit vigorous exercise.) Don't get on a bike and then find the toughest trail and through yourself down it. Start with beginning trails and work on your skills for a while. Staying safe Riders fall. Face it - it's going to happen. So the most important piece of equipment you have, after a good bike - is a good helmet. Never buy a used helmet - you don't know what's happened to it. Also of use to the mountain biker are goggles or other eye protection, elbow and knee pads, and good shoes. Always carry a few dollars and some change in a pocket so you can call for help if need be, and make sure you have identification on you at all times. (That last bit of advice is good for any type of biking, or jogging, come to that!) Always be prepared for the worst to happen, and then it [probably] never will.

Recreational vehicles and minimizing repairs

Many people are under the mistaken impression that maintaining an RV is similar to maintaining a car, but this simply isn’t the case. An RV is not just a "huge automobile." Nor is it quite a house with wheels. It is somewhere between the two. An RV is a type of vehicle that is special in the fact that it is significantly larger and has many more parts to it than an average car. Also, an RV is typically driven very long distances, which almost inevitably results in more repairs as it ages and the mileage increases. This is why it is so important to buy a quality recreational vehicle that is designed to stand the test of time. Otherwise you may find yourself putting a lot of money into it even shortly after your purchase. There are a few specific approaches to avoid major repairs. One is to buy a Class A recreational vehicle. These tend to be built better structurally so you can avoid the common body deterioration that some in the Class B and C experience. Recreational vehicles in general endure a lot of stress because of the amount of driving that is done in them each year. Every hour you drive your vehicle causes it additional stress. And for some people who travel frequently, the wear and tear becomes evident after a much shorter period of time. By having the roof and metal railings inspected ahead of time with an experienced RV technician, you can save a lot of money in future repair bills. You never want to buy an RV that has a faulty roof design because it costs thousands of dollars to repair the body structure. Again, have a professional inspection done to make sure that the RV you are interested in does not have body damage anywhere. If it does, either attempt to get an accurate repair cost estimate prior to buying it, or move on to the next RV. The engine and its surrounding components are the next part of the RV that need a thorough inspection. RV’s become very hot when driven over a long stretch of road, so you need to make sure the engine on your RV choice can endure lengthy hours of highway driving. By verifying the soundness of the transmission - as well as other internals near the engine such as the hydraulic system, air conditioning system, and the brakes - you will save yourself money and headaches. You definitely do not want to break down on the highway with an RV in the middle of nowhere! The amount of money you eventually spend on your recreational vehicle repairs will depend largely on the type of RV you select. Obviously, the larger it is and the more amenities it has, the greater chance you have of something going wrong. However, the Class A RV’s usually are built a bit more reliably and have greater stability than comparable, but less expensive RV’s. As long as the RV you plan to purchase has a quality inspection by a trained RV mechanic, you are well on your way to realizing significant savings from a reduction in the number and severity of repairs over time. And the trips themselves will then be worry free.

Angler s choice choosing a fillet knife right for you

An avid fisherman is typically able to tell you the contents of his tackle box: fishing hooks, line in various weights, shiny and dull fishing lures, colorful bobbers, an extra reel, needle nose pliers, a flashlight, maybe some fishing scissors and a fishing knife. Each of these tackle box items is an important element in both successful and not so successful fishing trips to the river. Having the right kind of gear, the kind that will withstand a variety of elements, is key. The following are some tips on what to look for when purchasing a durable fishing or fillet knife to all those would-be and experienced anglers out there. When choosing a fishing knife, the size of the fish being lured needs to be considered. A ten inch blade would be excessive if you typically fish stocked rainbow trout or crappie in your local river. The larger blade could damage the meat of smaller fish during cleaning if you are not careful. On the other hand, a small fillet knife on a medium-to-large catfish or grouper would be time consuming and potentially impossible. If you fish a variety of species, consider owning multiple knives in various lengths and widths. There are a number of fishing knife sets with multiple blade styles available on the market. If you have one knife that you really like, maybe it has a handle style that suits you, see if the manufacturer makes other size knives in the same style. The next item to consider when choosing a fillet or fishing knife, is the quality of the blade. You want to look for stainless steel blades that can maintain their sharpness. You also want to try to buy one that can be sharpened easily throughout a fishing season. Stainless steel is recommended because of its stronger resistance to rust; fishing knives encounter a lot of water. You will want the same durability and strength in your fishing knife as you would a hunting knife. However, with a fillet knife, a tempered blade that can cut smoothly and thinly is ideal. When purchasing a fillet knife, look for one that is serrated in a portion of the knife, toward the handle is best. Having the serration in addition to the smooth sharp blade will be helpful to cut through tougher sections and bones and will keep you from needing a second serrated knife. The final items to consider are all about your personal style. There are a number of knives available depending on the type of fisherman you or the recipient of the knife is. Consider how frequently you use a fishing knife during your fishing trips. If you tend to constantly be reaching for yours, purchase a folded knife that can be put in your pocket or hang from a fishing vest so it will be easy to get to. If you have a messier tackle box with little organization, consider purchasing a fishing knife that comes with a sturdy knife sleeve or one that folds to avoid accidentally cutting yourself or damaging the blade while it is moving around in the box. If you have arthritis or carpel tunnel syndrome, try out various knife handle shapes to find one that is comfortable for you. There are a number of knife options available; don’t settle for anything other than what will best help you as you fish this summer. Consider these tips as you put together your tackle box and gear this summer. Whether you are heading to the river, lake or ocean, a quality fishing or fillet knife is an important addition and just may help bring in the record breaking fish. Ben Anton, 2007
